The History of VILEBREQUIN

Vilebrequin is a legendary swimwear brand created in Saint-Tropez in 1971 that has transformed its world of swimwear accessories into an entire lifestyle.

It all began in the 1970s in the chic beach resort of Saint Tropez, "the" place to be seen for the world's rich, famous and beautiful. A visionary young man, seated at the terrace of the famous Caf- Senequier, casually pulled off the checked tablecloth and, with a few snips of his scissors, fashioned it into a swimsuit with a refreshingly unique design.

Inspired by surfers trunks, the design takes shape, very different from the traditional 'swim briefs' of the time. Made out of spinnaker canvas, the new swimsuit dries more quickly in the sun and wind. Colourful and original, a new style is set!

In 1995, "Like father, Like son" concept is launched. Family ties are strengthened and values passed down from one generation to the next, impervious to passing fashion trends.

Through its 2009 Fall-Winter collection the brand has announced its arrival on the scene with an entire new line of men's ready-to-wear fashions.
