Ralph Lauren began his career in 1967 with an innovative neckwear line that launched the wide-tie revolution and marked the beginning of the Polo label.  From then, Ralph Lauren continued to lead the fashion world, with his first womenswear line in 1972, the introduction of his famed polo shirt and polo player logo the same year, and an ever-expanding exploration of iconic American style in clothing, home furnishings, and fragrances that continues today.

A recognized leader in his field, Mr. Lauren is the only designer to receive the Council of Fashion Designers of Americas four highest honors—the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, the Menswear Designer of the Year Award, the Retailer of the Year Award, as well as the CFDA's Humanitarian Leadership Award, and in June 2007, he was the first recipient of the CFDA American Fashion Legend Award.
