Zara is the first brand under the Inditex Group.  In 1963, Amancio Ortega Gaona, chairman and founder of Inditex, begins his business activities in the textile manufacturing sector.  The business grows steadily throughout the decade to include several manufacturing centres distributing products to various European countries.

The first Zara shop opened its doors in 1975 in A Coruña (Spain).  The Zara fashion concept is well received by the public, and its network of stores extends to the major Spanish cities.  Following the Group’s fashion philosophy--creativity and design quality, with a rapid response to the demands of the market--Zara is now present in 69 countries, with a network of 1,412 stores in privileged locations of major cities.  Its international presence is a testament to the idea that national borders are no impediment to sharing a single fashion culture.

At Zara, design is conceived as a process that is closely linked to the public. Information from stores is constantly transmitted to a design team made up of over 200 professionals, informing them of our customers' needs and concerns.  Zara is in step with society, dressing the ideas, trends and tastes that society itself has developed.
